My favorite band, the legendary British hard rock band Deep Purple gave a concert in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.
The concert was SOLD OUT….
Deep Purple was formed in Hertford, England in 1968, with an inaugural line-up that featured guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Rod Evans, bassist Nick Simper, keyboardist Jon Lord, drummer Ian Paice.
Deep Purple counted as well as the instigator of the influential bands of the hard rock music history. They have never been a heavy metal band, though many later heavy metal bands cite their influence. The group has frequently changed styles and line-ups over the years, but always included virtuoso players and placed a high priority Once credited in the Guinness Book of World Records as the globe's loudest band, heir revolving-door roster launched the careers of performers including Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale and Ian Gillan.
The great break-through came with the album “Deep Purple in Rock” whereupon stated the Top 100 Old-time Classic blockbuster “Child in Time”. Also the following albums “Fireball”, with the song “Strange Kind of Woman” and “Machine Head” with the famous song “Smoke On The Water” were succesful. Totally Deep Purple sold more than 100 million albums.
Ups over the years, Deep Purple was left to fill one of the biggest vacancies in rock music. The following members which joined the band are: Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Tommy Bolin, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, Glenn Hughes, David Coverdale, Joe Lynn Turner, Steve Morsey, Don Airey.
Today, Deep Purple is one of historical most profilic, longest-lived, and hardest touring rock bands. The present band members “MK8” now are: Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice as primal members, added with Steve Morse and Don Airey.
Despite numerous line-up upheavals during their career, Deep Purple remains alive and well in the 21st century….
